I may be missing the point (if the point is too simply buff a single skill), but I have previously asked a hammer warrior how he liked using hammers. He claimed it was fun, but adrenaline was often an issue. His answer to it was using:

To the Limit, Berserker Stance and Dwarven Battle Stance. He said the increase in attack speed often keep him where he needed for his skills.

Granted To the Limit doesn't do damage, but the over all increase in adrenaline and speed increase (from the other two stances) would seem to increase over all damage output.

I do not play a hammer warrior, but have been thinking about trying it - which is why this post caught my attention. If I'm off target and this "stinks", let me know so I can save myself the effort of trying it

Problem with IAS for a hammer is that it breaks the timing of single hit-KD-hit-KD-hit-KD. Assuming you have the appropriate gauntlets, using such a combo will keep the enemy down for 6+ seconds, which as you can probably guess is rather useful.

I agree that it's unfortunate that hammers don't get an attack that is AoE like cyclone axe - it's really lousy that sword have one but it's elite, hammers have one that is easily interrputed (and the fact is that warriors are in melee, so it';; be stopped) and axes get a nice simple skill accessible from pre-searing. A little unfair.

there is no reason to not take out the interruptable aspect of crude swing as it makes this skill unusable in pve
"adjacent" is already not so good in pvp, especially 4v4 and gvg so i dont think it would hurt having crude swing more viable to punish ballers
anyway how many axe warriors do you even see take cyclone axe into tombs? i dont think it will all of sudden make hammers an overpowered weapon

Hammer heave{e}, 10, 1, 10
Throw hammer at target in the area, deaing 20-60 more damage and knocking your target down. If "evaded," target reserves the right to slap you across teh face. Hammer heave cannot be "blocked."

Anet buffed the +damage in the update earlier this month, but I doubt anyone really cared. I'd like to see the easily interrupted tag taken away, but it cannot be + damage. That would be way too powerful. Difference here and in Cyclone Axe is that an axe has a minimum damage of 6, whereas a hammer is 19. So, just "hits all adjacent foes" would be ideal.

I think crude swing may need to be buffed alittle, it's not really a skill you'd want on your skillbar in PvP or in PvE. However I do admit it could be useful in certain (rare) instances. If it is buffed, I say keep the easily inturuptable on it, but make it more potent, as in cost less adrenaline, do more damage, or add another effect to it. If the easy inturupt is removed, I'd at least like to see a several second knockdown after using it.

As for right now(PvE wise), you could just bring an axe, put no points into axe mastery, and bring cyclone axe + that axe on another weapon slot. Just switch when you want to build adrenaline with cyclone. You won't do the same amount of damage you would have if crude swing succesfuly executed, but it's still a way to build the adrenaline.

Crude Swing - Hammer Attack 5,0,4
Attack all adjacent foes. This attack does 25% less damage.

Have a little imagination.

Try Earthshaker, Crude Swing, Aftershock. There is enough time to pull this combo off, so not only do you rebuild earthshaker adren with the crude swing, but you get the big damage from aftershock.

I am curious if there are any stats about weapon popularity. It seems to me hammers are not all that popular and maybe this is why. Maybe it is just happenstance but I find many more hammer drops with mods than swords.

hammers are less popular because the stats(mods) they can get are subpar to the mods an axer or sworduser can get combined with a shield.

On top of that most of their knockdown skills are very adrenaline heavy and annoying to use. You need an elite to make them somewhat usefull.

Hammers are feared by the "better" players. Hammers own me.

Its just a fact that some skills are for use in pvp some are for use in pve.
E.g

PVE: PvP:
Dolyak = Godly Dolyak = omg
Frenzy = Death Frenzy = best attack speed buff

then there are the other skills

Crude Swing = useless in pvp and pve imo.

There are plenty other skills like this that have no home, plz Anet at least buff this skill for PvE sake because hammer warriors need to be balanced in pve seriously. In PvP I think sword/axe/hammer are closely balanced and have their uses.

Personally I like this skill, I take it in to tombs as a hammer warrior with earth shaker. On altermaps such as HoH, where the ghostly hero is the target, and not me, I spam this with earthshaker, I swap over to my zealous, or vampiric hammer, and make the enemys see me as a serious threat. This the only problem is after I have made myself known after doing about 160+ dmg and around 3 knockdowns, They know its time to take me out. So I end up getting spikes by the opposing two teams :-D hows that for popularity. If I have a trapper buddy next to me it makes it alot easier to keep it up.

Yes, ANet should help hammerers out, Crude Swing is just one example. I would also like to see hammer gets three mods instead of two like one-handed sword or axe.
